Abu Dhabi, March 1, 2026 (Saudi Arabia Breaking News) – The United Arab Emirates has closed its embassy in Tehran and withdrawn its ambassador and diplomatic staff after Iran’s direct missile attacks struck Emirati territory, the foreign ministry said on Sunday.
The ministry described the strikes as missile attacks that hit civilian sites, including residential areas, airports, ports and service facilities.
The statement said the attacks endangered civilians and amounted to a serious escalation, calling them a violation of national sovereignty, international law and the United Nations Charter.
It warned that continued hostile actions risk pushing the region toward a highly dangerous trajectory, adding that escalating instability threatens regional and international peace, energy security and the stability of the global economy.
The move marks a sharp reversal in ties between the two countries. The United Arab Emirates restored full diplomatic relations with Iran in 2022 after years of strained relations and returned its ambassador to Tehran as part of efforts to ease regional tensions.
