International Nuclear Science Olympiad to open in Jeddah with 19-country participation

JEDDAH, August 2 (Saudi Arabia Breaking News) — The third International Nuclear Science Olympiad will open in Jeddah on Monday, August 3, bringing together 120 students and science specialists from 19 countries.


Makkah Region Deputy Governor Prince Saud bin Mishaal bin Abdulaziz is scheduled to preside over the opening ceremony.


The event focuses on nuclear science and its peaceful applications, including the safe use of nuclear technologies and the development of new solutions by young scientists. The International Atomic Energy Agency approved the Olympiad in 2024.


Saudi Arabia participated in the inaugural edition in the Philippines in 2024 and the second event in Malaysia in 2025. Saudi participants received five awards across the two editions: one silver medal, three bronze medals and a certificate of appreciation.


The Kingdom previously hosted the International Chemistry Olympiad in Riyadh in 2024 and the Asian Physics Olympiad in the Eastern Region in 2025.
