RIYADH, April 5, 2026 (Saudi Arabia Breaking News) – Taif’s rose farms are seeing stronger production this harvest season, helped by favorable weather conditions that have improved crop quality and increased output, according to farmers and tourism operatos.
Taif Governorate has more than 910 rose farms and about 1.14mn rose shrubs, producing around 550 mn roses a year during a harvest season that lasts about 45 days.
The farms are concentrated in the highland areas of Al-Hada and Al-Shafa on the slopes of the Sarawat Mountains, where moderate temperatures, fertile valleys and abundant water provide suitable conditions for growing Taif roses.
Farmer Khalaf Al Tuwairqi said moderate weather and the availability or irrigation had increased flower density and improved quality this season, supporting higher harvesting rates and stronger production.
He said farms produce thousands of roses a day during peak periods, adding that about 12,000 roses are needed to produce one unit of rose oil, one of the world’s most valuable aromatic oils.
The stronger harvest has also supported tourism activity in Taif, with rose farms attracting more visitors during the season.

Tourism guide Abdullah Al Zahrani said farms in Al-Hada and Al-Shafa were drawing growing numbers of visitors keen to watch the harvesting and distillation process and learn about a traditional craft closely tied to the governorate’s agricultural identity.
The annual rose harvest is one of Taif’s best – known seasonal activities, supporting both the local agricultural economy and tourism sector.
