Saudi Arabia Records 14,434 Residency, Labor and Border Violations in One Week

RIYADH, August 29 (Saudi Arabia Breaking News) — Inspection campaigns conducted across Saudi Arabia from August 20 to 26 recorded 14,434 violations of residency, labor and border-security laws, the Ministry of Interior said.
The total included 6,976 residency violations, 4,110 border-security violations and 3,348 labor-law violations.
Border authorities apprehended 1,450 people attempting to enter Saudi Arabia illegally. The group consisted of 41% Yemenis, 58% Ethiopians and 1% from other nationalities. Authorities also apprehended 44 people attempting to leave the Kingdom illegally.
A further 27 people were arrested for involvement in transporting, sheltering or employing violators.
The ministry said 29,938 expatriates are currently undergoing enforcement procedures, including 27,957 men and 1,981 women.
Authorities directed 18,914 people to contact their countries’ embassies or consulates to obtain travel documents. Another 2,867 were instructed to complete travel arrangements, while 14,905 people were repatriated.
The Ministry of Interior said facilitating illegal entry, transporting violators, providing shelter or offering other assistance may result in up to 15 years in prison and a fine of up to SAR1 million. Vehicles used for transport and properties used for shelter may also be confiscated. The ministry classified such acts as major crimes warranting arrest and said violations can be reported through 911 in Makkah, Riyadh and the Eastern Region, or through 999 and 996 elsewhere in Saudi Arabia.
