RIYADH, Dec. 28 (Saudi Arabia Breaking News) – Saudi falconer Amina Al-Anzi from the Northern Borders Region has documented her journey in breeding and training falcons, turning a childhood passion into a practice based on learning, patience and gradual development, according to the Saudi Press Agency.
Speaking to the Saudi Press Agency, Al-Anzi said her interest in falcons began several years ago during her childhood, when she watched them at festivals. After acquiring her first falcon, she began learning step by step, she said.
She noted that the early stages were marked by fear, particularly of losing the falcon or it failing to return, but said commitment to training helped her overcome those concerns.

Al-Anzi said mastering how to handle a falcon was not easy and could not be achieved in a short time, highlighting the “melwah” training stage as one of the most challenging phases. She explained that this stage requires teaching the falcon attack techniques and general handling skills, which demand patience and continuous practice to build trust between the falconer and the bird.
She added that her focus is on “gerbeyor” falcons, which are considered more difficult in temperament than other species. Despite this, she said they have become the closest to her after personally training them, with her falcon now forming part of her daily routine.
According to the Saudi Press Agency, Al-Anzi said she aims to continue developing her skills and plans to participate in the upcoming falconry festival in Turaif Governorate, contributing to efforts to introduce falconry heritage to younger generations.
