Saudi Arabia records 12,192 residency, labor and border violations in one week


RIYADH, April 26 (Saudi Arabia Breaking News) - Saudi Arabia recorded 12,192 violations of residency, labour and border security laws during inspection campaigns carried out between April 16 and 22, the Interior Ministry announced.


The total included 6,606 residency violations, 3,510 border security violations and 2,076 labour law violations.


Border authorities arrested 1,454 people trying to enter the kingdom illegally, including 32% Yemenis, 67% Ethiopians and 1% of other nationalities. Another 50 people were detained while attempting to leave the country illegally.


Authorities also arrested 22 people accused of transporting, sheltering or employing violators.


A total of 33,223 expatriates are undergoing legal procedures. Of those, 20,318 were told to contact their embassies or consulates to obtain travel documents, 6,299 were instructed to arrange travel, and 17,368 were repatriated.


The ministry warned that facilitating illegal entry, transport or shelter could carry penalties of up to 15 years in prison and fines of up to SAR1 million, with vehicles and properties used in such acts also subject to confiscation.
