Saudi Arabia records 11,300 residency, labor and border violations in one week

RIYADH, May 3 (Saudi Arabia Breaking News) - Saudi Arabia recorded 11,300 violations of residency, labour and border security laws during inspection campaigns carried out between April 23 and 29, the Interior Ministry said.
The violations included 6,244 related to residency, 3,543 to border security and 1,513 to labour laws, the ministry said.
Border authorities arrested 1,330 people trying to enter the kingdom illegally, including 43% Yemenis, 54% Ethiopians and 3% of other nationalities. They also arrested 51 people for attempting to leave the kingdom illegally.
Authorities arrested 14 people for transporting, sheltering and employing violators, while 29,913 expatriates are currently undergoing procedures to enforce regulations, the ministry said.
It added that 18,601 people were detained and told to contact their embassies or consulates to obtain travel documents, 4,337 were told to arrange travel, and 14,855 were repatriated.
The ministry warned that facilitating illegal entry, transport or shelter could carry penalties of up to 15 years in prison and fines of up to SAR1 million, with vehicles and properties used in the offences also subject to confiscation.
