Saudi air defenses intercept drones targeting Eastern Province oil facilities

The Defense Ministry said the drones were launched from Iraqi territory by Iranian-backed militias.

RIYADH, July 28, Saudi Arabia Breaking News — Saudi air defenses intercepted and destroyed several drones that attempted to target oil facilities in the Eastern Province over the past few hours, the Ministry of Defense said on Tuesday.
Defense Ministry spokesman Brig. Gen. Turki Al-Maliki said the attacks had again been launched from Iraqi territory and carried out by Iranian-backed militias.
Al-Maliki affirmed Saudi Arabia’s inherent right to defend itself and its national assets, adding that the Kingdom reserved the right to respond “at the appropriate time and place,” according to the Saudi Press Agency.
