VIENNA, March 26, 2026 (Saudi Arabia Breaking News) – U.N. nuclear watchdog chief Rafael Grossi voiced deep concern on Thursday over reported military strikes near Iran’s Bushehr nuclear power plant and warned that any damage to the operating facility could trigger a major radiological accident.

Grossi said the latest strikes took place on Tuesday evening and noted that Bushehr is an operating nuclear power plant containing a large amount of nuclear material, making any damage especially dangerous.

He called for maximum restraint to avoid the risk of a nuclear accident and stressed the importance of respecting what the International Atomic Energy Agency describes as the seven pillars of nuclear safety and security during armed conflict.

Iran told the IAEA that a projectile hit the premises of the Bushehr plant on Tuesday evening, while no damage to the plant or injuries to staff were reported. Reuters also reported that a structure about 350 metres from the reactor was hit and destroyed, but that there was no damage to the reactor itself
