Regional assessments link Houthis, Iraqi groups to Saudi oil attacks

RIYADH, July 30 (Saudi Arabia Breaking News) — Yemen’s Houthis coordinated with Iraqi armed groups to launch attacks against Saudi Arabia from Iraqi territory this week, according to assessments described by two regional officials.
The strikes included attacks on oil facilities in Saudi Arabia’s Eastern Province, the centre of the Kingdom’s crude production.
The assessments differ from official accounts and point to increasing operational cooperation among armed groups aligned with Iran following years of U.S. and Israeli military action against the network.
“There is now direct training and coordination between members of the Axis of Resistance themselves, not just between them and Iran,” said Farea al-Muslimi, a research fellow in the Middle East and North Africa programme at Chatham House.
The governments of Saudi Arabia, Iran and Iraq did not respond to requests for comment on the assessments. The Houthis also did not comment.
The Houthis have previously said their attacks against Saudi Arabia were a response to Saudi military action in Yemen and were intended to break what the group describes as a blockade.
Saudi Arabia denies imposing a blockade and has cited the arrival of dozens of ships at Houthi-controlled ports this year.
