RIYADH, May 24 (Saudi Arabia Breaking News) — Foreign ministers from Saudi Arabia and 18 Arab and Muslim countries condemned the move by the so-called Somaliland region to open a representative office in occupied Jerusalem, calling it illegal and a violation of international law.
The ministers described the step as a direct challenge to the legal and historical status of occupied Jerusalem and a breach of relevant international resolutions.
The position was joined by the foreign ministers of Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Qatar, Jordan, Türkiye, Pakistan, Indonesia, Djibouti, Somalia, Palestine, Oman, Sudan, Yemen, Lebanon, Mauritania, Kuwait, Algeria, Bangladesh and Morocco.
The ministers rejected unilateral measures aimed at creating an unlawful reality in occupied Jerusalem or giving legitimacy to entities or arrangements that violate international law and relevant United Nations resolutions.
They reaffirmed that East Jerusalem is occupied Palestinian territory under international law since 1967, and that any measure intended to alter its legal or historical status is null, void and carries no legal effect.
The ministers also expressed full support for the unity, sovereignty and territorial integrity of the Federal Republic of Somalia, rejecting any unilateral measures that affect Somali territorial unity or undermine its sovereignty.
