Fire Erupts Near Bahrain International Airport After Iranian Strike

Manama, March 12, 2026 (Saudi Arabia Breaking News) — A major fire struck a neighborhood near Bahrain International Airport early Thursday after an Iranian attack, authorities said, as the regional conflict continues to threaten critical infrastructure across the Gulf.

The blaze began on Muharraq Island, where oil storage tanks are located near the airport.

Ministry of Interior of Bahrain said the fire involved oil tanks in the area and urged residents in nearby neighborhoods to remain indoors and close windows and ventilation openings as a precaution against smoke from the blaze.

Authorities said the airport area contains jet fuel storage tanks, along with other fuel facilities linked to Bahrain’s oil industry.

Bahrain had earlier moved some aircraft away from the airport area as tensions escalated.

The incident comes as the conflict between Iran and U.S.-allied countries intensifies across the region.

The United States Central Command released footage showing strikes targeting Iranian military aircraft, while Iranian attacks have also targeted infrastructure across the Gulf, including areas near Dubai International Airport.
