RIYADH, April 3, 2026 (Saudi Arabia Breaking News) - Bahrain condemned an Iranian strike on infrastructure earlier this week, saying the attack hit a national telecommunications facility hosting commercial cloud services rather than any U.S. military installation. Iran’s Revolutionary Guards had said they targeted an Amazon cloud computing centre in Bahrain.
A Bahraini official said the strike hit the headquarters of telecoms company Batelco in Hamala and described it as an attack on the kingdom’s sovereign territory and civilian economic interests. The official rejected Tehran’s assertion that the target was linked to U.S. military facilities, saying the site was a Bahraini telecommunications centre supporting commercial cloud services.
The official said the affected infrastructure supports regional businesses, financial institutions and digital services used across the Gulf, calling the strike a threat to wider economic connectivity. Reuters has separately reported damage and disruption affecting Amazon Web Services infrastructure in Bahrain amid drone activity and Iranian strikes.
Iran’s Revolutionary Guards said on Thursday they had targeted an Amazon cloud computing centre in Bahrain. Bahrain’s statement framed the strike as an attack on civilian infrastructure and part of a broader escalation affecting Gulf economic interests.
