Riyadh, February 18 (SABN) – The Zakat, Tax and Customs Authority (ZATCA) has urged individuals to pay their zakat voluntarily through its official “Zakat” smartphone application or via the website zakaty.zatca.gov.sa.
The platform allows users to calculate zakat due on a variety of assets, including cash, gold, silver, shares, investment funds, and real estate held for trade. It generates a payment invoice, sends reminders for due dates, and calculates zakat on gold based on purity using a dedicated algorithm linked to global gold and silver prices to ensure accuracy.
ZATCA confirmed that the application enables users to add previously saved assets to the extended calculator, providing a comprehensive overview of all zakatable assets within personal accounts.
The authority stated that total zakat collected through the platform has exceeded SAR904 million. The service, operational for nine years, maintains a minimum payment amount of SAR1,000. Funds collected are directed to beneficiaries registered under social security programs, in accordance with the categories selected by users.
Eligible beneficiaries include families in need of housing, families of divorced women, families of prisoners, and other eligible groups. The platform operates around the clock, offering secure payment channels such as SADAD, Apple Pay, mada, and other approved methods to facilitate timely and flexible delivery of zakat.
ZATCA affirmed that all operations are supervised by specialists in zakat jurisprudence and accounting to ensure compliance, accuracy, and transparency.
