RIYADH, May 3 (Saudi Arabia Breaking News) - U.S. President Donald Trump’s administration approved more than $8.6 billion in military sales to Qatar, Kuwait, the United Arab Emirates and Israel after bypassing congressional review, the State Department said on Friday.

The department said Secretary of State Marco Rubio determined that an emergency existed requiring the immediate sales and waived congressional review requirements.

The approvals included Patriot air and missile defence replenishment services for Qatar valued at $4.01 billion and Advanced Precision Kill Weapon Systems, or APKWS, for Qatar worth $992.4 million.

The State Department also cleared the sale to Kuwait of an integrated battle command system valued at $2.5 billion, APKWS for Israel worth $992.4 million and APKWS for the UAE worth $147.6 million.

The department said BAE Systems was the principal contractor in the APKWS sales to Qatar, Israel and the UAE, while RTX and Lockheed Martin were principal contractors in the Kuwait and Qatar deals. Northrop Grumman was also a principal contractor in the Kuwait sale.
