Riyadh, March 23, 2026 (Saudi Arabia Breaking News) – U.S. President Donald Trump said the United States will postpone planned military strikes against Iranian power and energy infrastructure for five days following what he described as “productive” discussions with Iran over the weekend.
Trump said the decision was based on the “tone and tenor” of ongoing talks, which he indicated would continue in the coming days.
“I am pleased to report that the United States of America and the country of Iran have had, over the last two days, very good and productive conversations regarding a complete and total resolution of our hostilities in the Middle East,” Trump wrote on Truth Social.
He added that he had instructed authorities to delay military action while discussions remain underway.
“Based on the tenor and tone of these in-depth, detailed, and constructive conversations, which will continue throughout the week, I have instructed the Department of War to postpone any and all military strikes against Iranian power plants and energy infrastructure for a five-day period, subject to the success of the ongoing meetings and discussions,” he said.
Trump had previously threatened to launch strikes on Iranian power facilities by Monday evening if Tehran did not allow the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz.
