Suspects in Louvre Jewel Heist Arrested Near Paris, Prosecutor Says

Paris, October 26, 2025 (Saudi Arabia Breaking News) – French authorities arrested suspects linked to the Louvre Museum jewel heist, in which eight pieces of France’s crown jewels were stolen last week, the Paris prosecutor’s office said on Sunday.

One of the suspects was detained at Charles de Gaulle Airport as he was preparing to board a flight out of the country, prosecutor Laure Beccuau said in a statement.

According to Le Parisien, which first reported the arrests, the two men—both in their 30s and originally from Seine-Saint-Denis, a suburb north of Paris—were known to French police. One of the suspects was reportedly preparing to travel to Algeria.

Beccuau did not confirm the number of people arrested or provide further details about their identities but criticized the media leak, saying it could obstruct ongoing investigations.

“This revelation can only hinder the investigative efforts of the 100 or so mobilized investigators, both in the search for the stolen jewelry and for all the perpetrators. It is too early to provide any specific details,” the prosecutor said.

The suspects are believed to be connected to the October 19 theft, during which thieves stole eight valuable pieces estimated to be worth $102 million from the Louvre Museum. The robbers reportedly used a crane to break into an upper window of the Galerie d’Apollon during opening hours and escaped on motorbikes.

The high-profile heist has sparked a nationwide debate in France over museum security and what some have called a “national humiliation.”
