Tanker Hit by Two Projectiles Off Qatar, Crew Status Unknown

DOHA, Qatar, November 5 (Saudi Arabia Breaking News) – A tanker was struck by two unidentified projectiles in the Arabian Gulf north of Qatar late on Wednesday, with the condition of its crew and the extent of damage still unknown, Britain's maritime security agency said on Thursday.

The United Kingdom Maritime Trade Operations (UKMTO) said the incident occurred at 2320 GMT on November 4, approximately 50 nautical miles north of Madinat ash Shamal, on Qatar's northern coast.

The agency did not identify the vessel or establish the origin of the projectiles. The circumstances of the incident remain under investigation.

The incident comes amid continuing maritime security concerns in the Gulf as Qatar pursues diplomatic efforts to end the war between the United States and Iran.

Qatar's foreign ministry said on Tuesday that Washington and Tehran were reviewing proposals presented by mediators, with negotiations continuing.

In a separate incident, Qatar's shipping company Nakilat reported that its liquefied natural gas carrier Al Mayeda was struck by unidentified objects while transiting the Gulf on October 30.

Nakilat said no crew members were injured and there was no environmental impact. The vessel remained safe and operational while the company assessed the incident.
