MANAMA, Bahrain, June 23 — The Saudi Fund for Development participated in the inauguration of the Al-Ramli electricity transmission stations project in Bahrain, funded through an $80 million Saudi grant provided through the fund.

The inauguration was held under the patronage of Bahrain’s Deputy Prime Minister Sheikh Khalid bin Abdullah Al Khalifa.

The project aims to strengthen electricity and water-services infrastructure in the Al-Ramli area through the construction of two electricity transmission stations with capacities of 220 kilovolts and 66 kilovolts, in addition to cable extensions.

The project supports the Al-Ramli residential development, which includes 1,247 housing units, and contributes to sustainable-development objectives.

The Saudi Fund for Development was represented at the inauguration by Bandar bin Abdullah Al-Obaid, Director General of Arab Countries Operations. Bahrain’s Minister of Electricity and Water Affairs Yasser bin Ibrahim Humidan and Saudi Ambassador to Bahrain Naif bin Bandar Al-Sudairi also attended.

The fund said the project reflects the close development partnership between Saudi Arabia and Bahrain.

Since 1977, the Saudi Fund for Development has helped finance more than 30 development projects and programs in Bahrain across vital sectors, including energy, transport and social infrastructure.
