Saudi Civil Defense warns of heavy rain and flash floods across the Kingdom

RIYADH, March 22, 2026 (Saudi Arabia Breaking News) – The General Directorate of Civil Defense urged the public to exercise caution and remain in safe locations as thunderstorms are expected to continue affecting parts of Saudi Arabia through Saturday.

The directorate advised residents to stay away from valleys and areas prone to flash floods, avoid swimming in such locations, and follow instructions issued through official media outlets and social media platforms.

It said the Makkah Region is expected to experience moderate to heavy rainfall, which may lead to flash floods, hail, and dust storms. Similar conditions are forecast for the Riyadh Region.

The directorate added that Tabuk, Al-Jouf, Hail, Northern Borders, Madinah, Al-Baha, Aseer, Jazan, Najran, Qassim, and Eastern regions are also expected to be affected by moderate to heavy rainfall, with risks including flash floods, hail, and dust storms.
