Saudi Arabia Intercepts Drone Headed Toward Shaybah Oil Field

Riyadh, March 12, 2026 (Saudi Arabia Breaking News) — Saudi air defenses intercepted and destroyed a drone in the Empty Quarter that was heading toward the Shaybah oil field, Defense Ministry spokesperson Major General Turki Al-Maliki said Thursday.
Al-Maliki said the drone was neutralized before reaching its target.
The Shaybah oil field, operated by Saudi Aramco, is one of Saudi Arabia’s major oil production sites located in the Rub’ al Khali near the border with the United Arab Emirates.
No further details were immediately released.
