RIYADH, May 3 — Saudi Arabia’s Saudi Authority for Industrial Cities and Technology Zones (MODON) has been honored for planting 2 million seedlings, as the Kingdom highlights environmental sustainability efforts during Saudi Environment Week 2026.
The recognition was presented by Deputy Minister of Environment, Water and Agriculture Mansour bin Hilal Al-Mushaiti, according to the official statement.
Officials said the recognition reflects MODON’s efforts to improve environmental sustainability and quality of life across its 42 industrial cities, including work to enhance the urban landscape and create more attractive and sustainable work environments.
MODON said green-space coverage in its industrial cities increased by 50% compared with 2024, exceeding 3 million square meters.
It also said it helped reduce 2,545,040 tons of carbon dioxide through its Green Cities initiative, which is linked to net-zero goals.
In addition, the authority reported a 97% completion rate under its Circular Economy Initiative, which includes voluntary agreements with 100 factories to adopt circular economy principles aimed at improving resource efficiency, reducing waste and promoting sustainable production practices.
MODON currently oversees 9,557 industrial, logistics and investment facilities and supports more than 650,000 employees, according to the statement.
