Riyadh, March 13 (Saudi Arabia Breaking News) — Saudi Arabia’s air defenses intercepted 65 drones and one ballistic missile on Friday as Iran continued launching projectiles toward countries in the Gulf, according to a tally of interceptions reported by the Kingdom’s Ministry of Defense.
Defense Ministry spokesperson Maj. Gen. Turki Al-Maliki said a ballistic missile launched toward Al-Kharj governorate was intercepted and destroyed.
Most drone interceptions were reported in eastern Saudi Arabia, a sparsely populated region near the Gulf and home to some of the Kingdom’s major oil installations.
The interceptions were detailed in a series of statements issued throughout the day by Maj. Gen. Turki Al-Maliki as Saudi air defenses responded to repeated attempts to target locations inside the Kingdom.
