Moscow, March 2, 2026 (Saudi Arabia Breaking News) – Russian President Vladimir Putin held phone calls on Monday with Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, UAE President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Qatar’s Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani and Bahrain’s King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, the Kremlin announced.
In the call with the Saudi crown prince, serious concern was expressed over the risk of the conflict zone expanding after it affected the territories of a number of Arab countries, with a warning of potentially catastrophic consequences.
Putin urged a diplomatic track to address what was described as an extremely dangerous situation. The crown prince indicated Russia could play a stabilising role given its ties with Iran and Gulf states.
In talks with the UAE president, the need to cease hostilities and return to a political and diplomatic process was emphasised.
In the call with Qatar’s emir, concern was expressed about escalation risks and the danger of third countries being drawn in. Hope was also expressed that Iranian retaliatory actions would not harm civilians or civilian infrastructure in neighbouring countries.
Putin also spoke with Bahrain’s king and confirmed readiness to contribute to stabilising the situation in the region.
Russia has condemned U.S. and Israeli strikes and the killing of Iran’s supreme leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei.
