MADINAH, August 19 (Saudi Arabia Breaking News) — Madinah Region Deputy Governor Prince Saud bin Nahar bin Saud bin Abdulaziz reviewed preparations across 2,631 schools before the start of the 1448 AH academic year.

Madinah Region Director General of Education Nasser Al-Abdulkarim presented the readiness plan during a meeting with the deputy governor. The schools covered by the plan are located throughout Madinah and its surrounding governorates.

Preparations include school and educational-facility maintenance, classroom equipment, textbook deliveries, teaching personnel requirements and the completion of admission and registration procedures. The measures are intended to support the regular start of classes from the first day of the academic year.

New capacity scheduled to enter operation includes two school buildings containing a combined 60 classrooms, a kindergarten building with four classrooms and five sports halls.

Education authorities have also established two central secondary schools, one for boys and another for girls, and updated 21 special-education programs.

A school for students identified as gifted in media will become the first of its kind in Madinah. Its addition will bring the number of specialized schools in the region to four.

Enrollment figures presented during the meeting showed that 24,600 students had registered for the first year of primary education, while 19,700 children had registered for the third kindergarten level.

The meeting also covered the new general education system, including the establishment of the Education Affairs Council and its related organizational responsibilities.

Prince Saud was briefed on efforts to identify and support gifted students through specialized schools and programs intended to develop their abilities and provide educational pathways encouraging creativity and innovation.
