Saudi Education Minister Yousef Al-Benyan Outlines General Education System

RIYADH, August 18 (Saudi Arabia Breaking News) — Saudi Minister of Education Yousef Al-Benyan said the general education system would establish governance, resource and quality requirements for educational institutions while supporting students, teachers and families.
Measures outlined by Al-Benyan include professional development for teachers, early childhood education, assistance for people with disabilities and programs for gifted students.
The system will also regulate e-learning and introduce standards for schools intended to maintain the quality of educational environments and improve students’ experience.
Participation by the private and non-profit sectors in delivering educational services will be regulated under the system. Al-Benyan said it would also encourage investment and partnerships and coordinate educational roles with other government entities.
The system will strengthen the role of families and promote tolerance, coexistence, national identity, pride in Saudi Arabia’s history and national symbols, and proficiency in the Arabic language, the minister said.
Al-Benyan made the remarks at a press conference in Riyadh organized by the Ministry of Media. The event reviewed the education system’s latest developments and its readiness for the 1448–1449 academic year.
Minister of Media Salman Al-Dossary and officials from the media and education sectors attended the conference.
