Netanyahu and Katz order Israeli military to seize additional ground in Lebanon

Riyadh, March 3, 2026 (Saudi Arabia Breaking News) – Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Defence Minister Israel Katz have instructed the military to advance and seize additional strategic high ground in Lebanon after a week of intensified strikes, Katz said on Tuesday.
In a video address, Katz said the two leaders directed the Israel Defense Forces to prevent cross-border fire and protect Israeli border communities. He said the military operated overnight and continued taking control of the area, and that it was striking Hezbollah targets in Lebanon.
A Lebanese military source said the Lebanese army redeployed hundreds of soldiers from near the border further north following Israel’s incursion into southern Lebanon. The source told CNN Israeli troops have moved hundreds of meters into Lebanese territory, not kilometres, and said there had been no confrontation so far between Lebanese and Israeli forces.
The escalation in Lebanon follows renewed Israeli military action after Hezbollah claimed responsibility for firing projectiles from Lebanon into Israel.
Lebanon’s government said Israeli strikes across the country killed at least 52 people and wounded 154 on Monday. In Israel, at least 10 people have been killed, according to Israel’s emergency service Magen David Adom.
