RIYADH, June 21 (Saudi Arabia Breaking News) - Iran’s chief negotiator Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf denounced what he described as the “desperation” of the United States after President Donald Trump threatened the Iranian delegation negotiating in Switzerland, CNN reported.

Trump said the United States might “take over” the Strait of Hormuz if it cannot reach a deal with Iran.

“Don’t they ever think to themselves that if their threats had actually worked, they wouldn’t have reached this level of desperation today?” Ghalibaf said in a post on X.

Ghalibaf also said Iran did not take U.S. threats seriously and warned that the country’s armed forces were ready to respond if needed.

“They had better watch their words carefully. Our armed forces are ready to give them a response in a different way,” he said.

The remarks came during talks between Iran and the United States in Switzerland, where the Strait of Hormuz remains a central issue in negotiations.
