RIYADH, August 8 (Saudi Arabia Breaking News) — Saudi Arabia strongly condemned the attack on an Emirati tanker transiting the Strait of Hormuz and held Iran responsible for the incident and its consequences.
The Saudi Ministry of Foreign Affairs said the attack threatened the security and safety of maritime navigation and global energy supplies.
The Kingdom described Iran’s continued attacks as a grave violation of international laws and norms, including UN Security Council Resolution 2817, which it said guarantees freedom of navigation and safe passage through international waterways.
Saudi Arabia demanded an immediate end to the violations, saying their continuation threatened regional security, stability and safety.
The Kingdom also reaffirmed its full solidarity with the United Arab Emirates and its support for measures taken by the UAE to protect its sovereignty and resources.
