Grand Mufti of Saudi Arabia Sheikh Abdulaziz Al Al-Sheikh Passes Away; Funeral Prayers Ordered Across Kingdom

Riyadh, Sept 23, 2025 (Saudi Arabia Breaking News) – The Royal Court announced on Tuesday the death of Grand Mufti of Saudi Arabia Sheikh Abdulaziz bin Abdullah bin Mohammed Al Al-Sheikh, who also served as head of the Council of Senior Scholars, the General Presidency of Scholarly Research and Ifta, and the Supreme Council of the Muslim World League.
Funeral prayers will be held later today at Imam Turki bin Abdullah Mosque in Riyadh following the Asr prayer. The Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud has also ordered funeral prayers in absentia to be performed at the Grand Mosque in Makkah, the Prophet’s Mosque in Madinah, and in all mosques across the Kingdom.
The Royal Court described Sheikh Abdulaziz Al Al-Sheikh as a distinguished scholar whose work left a lasting impact on the service of Islam and Muslims.
Both King Salman and His Royal Highness Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud offered condolences to the Sheikh’s family, to the Saudi people, and to the wider Islamic world.
