Makkah, March 12, 2026 (Saudi Arabia Breaking News) — The General Authority for the Care of the Affairs of the Grand Mosque and the Prophet’s Mosque is intensifying fragrance and incense operations across the Grand Mosque in Makkah during Ramadan as part of its service plan for worshippers and Umrah performers.
Corridors, courtyards and prayer areas of the Grand Mosque are regularly perfumed with traditional Arabian scents including oud oil, musk and amber to enhance the spiritual atmosphere for visitors.
Fragrance operations also extend to the Kaaba and the Black Stone, which are perfumed using premium oud and other traditional fragrances in a long-standing practice reflecting their significance for Muslims.
Since the beginning of Ramadan, the authority has increased fragrance and incense operations across both the Grand Mosque and the Prophet’s Mosque in Madinah as part of a comprehensive operational plan serving visitors to the Two Holy Mosques.
More than 8,200 daily fragrance rounds have been conducted across the Grand Mosque and its expansions, while more than 58 kilograms of incense have been used in designated areas.
The authority has also distributed more than 1,100 perfume bottles to visitors, applied over 350 tolas of amber and rose oils, and used more than 7,300 liters of fragrance through automated spraying systems across the two holy mosques.
With the final ten days of Ramadan expected to bring the highest numbers of worshippers, fragrance operations are being further expanded. Incense usage is set to increase by 100 percent, while perfume distribution and aromatic oil applications will rise by 50 percent.
Fragrance operations are intensified during peak hours, particularly during Tarawih and Tahajjud prayers and after iftar, while specialized teams continue field operations to ensure balanced distribution of scents without affecting the movement of worshippers.
The program forms part of the broader service system provided for visitors to the Two Holy Mosques during Ramadan.
