Milan, September 4, 2025 (Saudi Arabia Breaking News) – Giorgio Armani, one of the most influential Italian designers of the late 20th century and founder of the Armani fashion empire, has died in Milan at the age of 91. He was born in Piacenza on July 11, 1934.

His family and employees issued a statement on Thursday: “In this company, we have always felt like part of a family. Today, with deep emotion, we feel the void left by the one who founded and nurtured this family with vision, passion, and dedication. But it is precisely in his spirit that we, the employees and the family members who have always worked alongside Mr. Armani, commit to protecting what he built and to carrying his company forward in his memory, with respect, responsibility, and love.

A funeral chamber will be set up from Saturday to Sunday, September 7, at the Armani/Teatro in Via Bergognone 59, Milan. It will be open from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. The funeral will be held privately in accordance with Armani’s wishes.

Armani, who served as chairman, chief executive officer, and creative director of his company, was preparing to mark the 50th anniversary of his brand with a show and celebration in September. Known for his minimalist tailoring that redefined global fashion in the 1970s and 1980s, he built one of the world’s most admired privately held luxury groups, spanning clothing, fragrance, cosmetics, hotels, and interior design. The Armani Group reported net revenues of €2.44 billion in 2023.

Throughout his career, Armani resisted industry consolidation, ensuring the independence of his brand. In 2016, he established the Giorgio Armani Foundation to secure the future of the company and support social projects, safeguarding the group’s governance and stability.

His legacy extends from revolutionizing the corporate wardrobe and Hollywood red carpets to establishing Armani Privé couture, Armani Hotels in Dubai and Milan, and the Armani Silos museum in Milan. His understated “greige” palette and fluid tailoring defined a generation, while his work with actors such as Richard Gere in American Gigolo brought fashion and cinema closer than ever before.

Armani received numerous honors, including the Legion d’Honneur from France and Italy’s highest civilian distinctions, and was widely regarded as one of the last great independent couturiers.
