New York, September 24, 2025 (Saudi Arabia Breaking News) – The G7 Foreign Ministers and the High Representative of the European Union issued a joint statement on the sidelines of the United Nations General Assembly, addressing a range of global security and political challenges.
On Haiti, the ministers welcomed the proposal to establish a UN Support Office and transition the Multinational Security Support Mission into a new force with a mandate to dismantle gangs, secure critical infrastructure, and re-establish stability in cooperation with Haitian authorities.
On the Middle East, the statement called for increasing humanitarian aid to civilians in Gaza, securing the release of hostages, and urging a ceasefire between Israel and Hamas. The ministers affirmed their readiness to engage with Arab partners on reconstruction efforts and to advance a lasting peace between Palestinians and Israelis.
On Iran, the G7 urged Tehran to comply fully with its obligations under the Treaty on the Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons, resume full cooperation with the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), and engage in direct negotiations with the United States toward a comprehensive nuclear agreement.
In Asia, the ministers reiterated support for a free and open Indo-Pacific based on the rule of law, opposing unilateral attempts to change the status quo by force or coercion, including in the East China Sea, South China Sea, and Taiwan Strait. They also called for the denuclearisation of North Korea.
Marking the UN’s 80th anniversary, the G7 underscored the need for reforms to ensure the organisation is more effective in addressing international challenges.
