Arada Unveils First Phase of AED12 Billion Thameside West Development in London

LONDON, July 21, Saudi Arabia Breaking News — UAE-based developer Arada has announced details of the first phase of Thameside West, an AED12 billion waterfront regeneration project in London’s Royal Docks.
Spanning more than 47 acres along the River Thames, the wider development is expected to deliver at least 5,000 homes, including 35% affordable housing.
Green spaces will cover half of the site, while the plans include a one-kilometre active waterfront designed to improve public access to the river.
The project is being delivered in partnership with the Greater London Authority through its land and property company, GLAP.
The first phase will comprise 1,500 homes across six buildings and a major public park. Arada said the proposals had been updated to comply with the latest building safety requirements and regulatory standards.
Gensler has been appointed as lead architect, with Arup serving as engineering consultant and Planit as landscape architect.
Arada expects to submit a planning application during the summer. Construction is scheduled to begin in early 2028, subject to regulatory approval.
The developer is also working with Transport for London on plans for a new Docklands Light Railway station, which is expected to open before the first residents move into the development.
Construction will be managed by Arada London through the company’s integrated delivery model, covering planning, construction, marketing and asset management.
Arada Group Chief Executive Officer Ahmed Alkhoshaibi said Thameside West represented a significant step towards delivering new homes and supporting infrastructure while contributing to the long-term regeneration of the Royal Docks.
Tom Copley, London’s Deputy Mayor for Housing and Residential Development, said the project would support the capital’s housing requirements through the delivery of at least 5,000 homes, 35% of which would be affordable.
Newham Mayor Forhad Hussain said the development would provide housing, green spaces and improved transport connections while generating employment, investment and opportunities for local communities.
