Jeddah, September 15, 2025 (Saudi Arabia Breaking News) – The Zawiya 97 events in Historic Jeddah have become a vibrant cultural initiative since launching in July 2025, as part of the Ministry of Culture’s Year of Handicrafts program.
The initiative provides an interactive platform for artisans and enthusiasts, with more than 79 workshops held in July, August, and September. Activities have included gypsum sculpting, wood decoration, mosaic art, perfume making, and recycling initiatives, attracting over 450 participants.
Continuing through September, the program will feature traditional crafts such as leatherwork, pottery, and embroidery, alongside sessions on Hijazi architecture and the distillation of aromatic plants.
Organizers said the initiative aims to revitalize traditional craftsmanship while connecting new generations to its cultural significance. Located in artisans’ alley near Beit Nassif, Zawiya 97 also allows visitors to explore Historic Jeddah’s markets, supporting heritage sustainability and linking the past with the future.
