RIYADH, May 14, 2026 (Saudi Arabia Breaking News) – Saudi telecom operator Zain KSA has completed its technical and workforce preparations for the 1447 AH Hajj season, anchored by the launch of its Smart Hajj Platform – an AI-powered network management system designed to deliver intelligent, end-to-end connectivity across the Hajj zone at a scale and speed beyond conventional monitoring methods.

The Platform represents a fundament shift in how the company manages network performance during the season. Rather than relying on teams of engineers responding to faults after they are detected, the system uses advanced artificial intelligence to identify issues before they affect users, generate instant optimization recommendations and execute autonomous fixes without any human intervention – addressing network challenges faster than traditional manual approaches.

IFRASTRUCTURE: 5G, WI-FI AND AI AT SCALE

The Smart Hajj Platform is fully integrated with Zain KSA’s enhanced digital infrastructure across the Two Holy Mosques and the holy sites. It operates across a network of more than 450 5G towers and over 950 Wi – Fi access points, providing high – performance coverage and accommodating the surge in data demand that characterizes the season.

The platform delivers real-time network insights, enabling continuous visibility into network health across all locations simultaneously. Its particular strength lies in improving the roaming experience – ensuring that pilgrims arriving from every corner of the world maintain reliable, always – on connectivity even during peak periods at the holy sites, when millions of users are simultaneously active within a concentrated geographical area.

For pilgrims, this translates into faster and more stable connectivity, smoother access to apps and Hajj – related digital services, and seamless movement across locations.

WORKFORCE: 1,240 STAFF, 99% SAUDI NATIONALS

Operationally, Zain KSA has mobilized a workforce of more than 1,240 employees for the season. Saudi nationals account for 99% of total staff – figures that reflect the company’s stated commitment to empowering local talent and advancing workplace inclusion in alignment with Saudi Vision 2030 objectives.

Field teams are equipped to assist pilgrims in more than eight languages, recognizing the deeply international nature of the pilgrimage. 60% of frontline staff had been trained in first aid, enabling swift ground-level response across the holy sites throughout the season.

DIGITAL SERVICES: ESIM, CROWD MANAGEMENT AND NUSUK

As part of its commitment to enriching the pilgrim experience through digital innovation, Zain KSA continues its partnership with the Nusuk platform, enabling pilgrims to activate eSIMs directly via the app without visiting a physical branch – making connectivity more accessible from the moment of arrival.

Beyond consumer connectivity, the company provides advanced digital solutions supporting crowd management, mission – critical communications, and safety and security operations in collaboration with several government entities, reflecting the broader role telecom infrastructure plays in the operational management of one of the world’s largest annual gatherings.

Zain KSA maintains a retail presence across more than 145 points of sale in Makkah, Madinah and the holy sites, ensuring physical customer support is available through the season for pilgrims who require in-person assistance.

VISION 2030 AND THE PILGRIM EXPERIENCE PROGRAMME

The preparations are aligned with the Pilgrim Experience Programme, one of the key programmes under Saudi Vision 2030, which aims to elevate the quality and accessibility of the Hajj experience for pilgrims worldwide. Zain KSA’s investment in AI-driven infrastructure and a highly trained, nationally representative workforce reflects the broader ambition to position Saudi Arabia’s digital services sector as a global benchmark for event-scale connectivity management.
