RIYADH, April 28 (Saudi Arabia Breaking News) - The U.S. military has spent about $25 billion on the war with Iran since it began in late February, the Pentagon’s top financial officer told lawmakers on Wednesday.

Most of the spending has gone on munitions, with additional costs linked to maintenance and the replacement of equipment, Jules “Jay” Hurst told the House Armed Services Committee.

The figure has become a political issue as Congress reviews President Donald Trump’s $1.5 trillion defence budget request for fiscal 2027.

Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth said any supplemental funding request tied specifically to the Iran war would be less than $25 billion, though broader requests beyond Iran were also likely.

Thirteen U.S. service members have been killed in the war so far.
