MOSCOW, June 16 (Saudi Arabia Breaking News) - Turkey’s Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan told his Russian counterpart Sergei Lavrov that steps threatening regional security and Turkey’s interests in the Black Sea should be avoided, Reuters reported.
Speaking at a press conference with Lavrov in Moscow on Tuesday, Fidan also repeated Turkey’s offer to mediate between Ukraine and Russia.
Fidan said Turkey’s priority was for Kyiv and Moscow to resume negotiations and end the war as soon as possible.
He stated that Ankara was ready to host the next rounds of talks if both sides agreed.
Fidan also said he had discussed possible ways to ensure navigational safety in the Black Sea with Lavrov.
In recent months, Ukraine and Russia have accused each other of drone attacks on tankers near Turkey’s northern coast, including an attack on a Turkish-owned vessel.
Turkey has protested to both Kyiv and Moscow over the attacks.
Fidan added that Turkey opposed attacks on civilians and civilian infrastructure.
