VERSAILLES, June 18 (Saudi Arabia Breaking News) - U.S. President Donald Trump signed a copy of a U.S.-Iran agreement during dinner at the Palace of Versailles on Wednesday, after attending the final day of the G7 summit in France, according to reports by CNN and The Associated Press.
Trump toured the Palace of Versailles with French President Emmanuel Macron and Brigitte Macron before the dinner, where the agreement was signed.
The United States later sent a photograph of the signed agreement to Iranian officials.
U.S. officials had previously said Trump and Vice President JD Vance had digitally signed the agreement on Sunday and that a ceremonial signing would be held Friday in Switzerland.
A U.S. official said Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian also signed the agreement on Wednesday, though Iran did not immediately comment.
It was not immediately clear whether the signing started a 60-day negotiating period to reach a final deal. It was also unclear how the signing at Versailles differed from the digital signing that officials said took place on Sunday.
Iran’s Foreign Ministry spokesperson Esmail Baghaei said the memorandum was “officially finalized” after being signed in both English and Farsi at Iran’s request for transparency, according to state broadcaster IRIB.
Earlier on Wednesday, Trump said U.S. forces would remain in the Persian Gulf region “for a little while” following the agreement.
