RIYADH, April 28 (Saudi Arabia Breaking News) - A superyacht owned by Russian billionaire Alexey Mordashov was able to transit the Strait of Hormuz after maintenance in Dubai because neither Iran nor the United States objected, a source close to Mordashov said on Tuesday.

The yacht, Nord, crossed the strait on Saturday on an approved route and in compliance with international maritime law, the source said.

The source said Iran did not interfere because the vessel was a civilian yacht from what was described as a friendly country conducting peaceful transit, while the United States raised no objections because the yacht had not called at Iranian ports and had no connection to Iran.

It had been unclear how the vessel, valued at more than $500 million, was allowed to pass through the strategic waterway, where traffic has been heavily restricted since February.

LSEG data showed Nord near the coast of Oman since Sunday.
