RIYADH, Dec. 28 (Saudi Arabia Breaking News) – Seven qualifying rounds for local owners were held on Saturday as part of the Melwah competition at the King Abdulaziz Falconry Festival 2025, the world’s largest gathering of falcons.
The festival is organized by the Saudi Falcons Club at its headquarters in Malham, north of Riyadh, and runs from December 25 to January 10, with broad participation from local and international falconers.
Saturday marked the third day of competitions, with rounds designated for local owners. A total of 315 falcons competed across six categories and seven rounds.

The festival highlights falconry heritage, which was inscribed on the UNESCO Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity in 2010, and aims to reinforce the Kingdom’s position as a global hub for falcons and falconers.
Organizers said the festival offers a 17-day experience that combines sport and heritage, attracting falconers, enthusiasts and visitors from inside and outside the Kingdom.
