Saudi rider Al-Omrani wins gold at Asian Road Cycling Championships in Qassim

Riyadh, February 9, 2026 (SABN) – Saudi cyclist Ahmed Al-Omrani won gold in the men’s individual road race at the 2026 Asian Road Cycling Championships in Qassim on Sunday, while teammate Badr Al-Muhanna took bronze, in a strong showing for the host nation.


Al-Omrani finished in 2:57:36, averaging 21.1 km/h. Al-Muhanna clocked 3:04:05 with an average speed of 20.3 km/h, according to event organisers.


Three races were held at Al Ghadha Park, including the elite women’s individual road race over 109.2 km, which was won by China, with Uzbekistan taking silver and South Korea bronze.


The event also included the men’s masters individual road race over 78 km and the women’s masters individual road race over 62.4 km, with 13 podium finishes across age categories.
