Saudi King Salman chairs Cabinet session in Riyadh, reviews regional developments and issues decisions

Riyadh, January 6, 2026 (Saudi Arabia Breaking News) – Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud chaired a Cabinet session held in Riyadh on Tuesday, according to the Saudi Press Agency.
At the outset, the Cabinet reviewed the contents of telephone calls received by His Royal Highness Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, Crown Prince and Prime Minister, from President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan of the Republic of Türkiye, President Ahmed al-Sharaa of the Syrian Arab Republic, Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani of the State of Qatar, and Prime Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan. The discussions addressed relations between the Kingdom and these countries, as well as regional and international developments.
The Cabinet reviewed developments in the region and the Kingdom’s efforts to enhance security and stability in the Republic of Yemen and to foster a supportive environment for dialogue among all parties. It reiterated its welcome of the request by President of the Yemeni Presidential Leadership Council Dr. Rashad Al-Alimi to convene a comprehensive conference in Riyadh bringing together all southern factions, with the aim of reaching a solution to the southern issue.
In a statement following the session, Minister of Media Salman Al-Dossary said the Cabinet discussed the Kingdom’s efforts to address the humanitarian situation in the Gaza Strip by intensifying air, sea, and land aid bridges to support the Palestinian people, under the directives of King Salman and the Crown Prince.
On domestic affairs, the Cabinet affirmed the Kingdom’s commitment to strengthening its position in advanced technologies and building an integrated digital ecosystem to enhance competitiveness and attract investment, in line with the objectives of Saudi Vision 2030. It commended the launch in Riyadh of the “Hexagon” government data center project, described as the world’s largest in its category, as a strategic milestone that reinforces data sovereignty and security and supports the growth of the digital economy.
The Cabinet also issued decisions, including approving draft agreements and memorandums of understanding and authorising discussions on cooperation with international partners across education, environment, tourism, earth sciences, competition protection, security cooperation, and vegetation development and combating desertification.
