MINA, May 23 — Saudi Arabia’s Ministry of Health urged pilgrims to use umbrellas during Hajj to reduce direct exposure to the sun as temperatures rise across the holy sites.

The ministry said umbrellas are among the simplest and most effective preventive measures against heat exhaustion, heatstroke and dehydration during the pilgrimage.

It said using an umbrella can help lower the temperature around a pilgrim by up to 10 degrees Celsius, reducing physical strain during movement between the holy sites.

The ministry called on pilgrims to follow health guidelines and use preventive measures to perform Hajj safely.
