NEW YORK, September 20, 2026 (Saudi Arabia Breaking News) — Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan bin Abdullah urged respect for state sovereignty and freedom of navigation amid regional tensions, in a statement to the Saudi Press Agency on the Kingdom’s participation in the UN General Assembly.

Prince Faisal called for disputes to be resolved peacefully and for the safety of international waterways to be protected under international law.

Saudi Arabia would continue supporting dialogue and mediation during the high-level week of the General Assembly’s 81st session, he said.

The minister also called on the United Nations and other international institutions to uphold their founding principles, maintain peace and security and strengthen cooperation in addressing crises.

The session’s theme is “Restoring Trust, Managing Transformation: A United Nations That Delivers for All.”

Prince Faisal said sustainable development and the responsible use of artificial intelligence were also priorities for Saudi Arabia’s participation.

The Kingdom is focusing on AI applications to improve efficiency across sectors and support innovation, he said, linking those objectives to Saudi Arabia’s designation of 2026 as the Year of Artificial Intelligence.
