Saudi Civil Defense Warns of Thunderstorms and Heavy Rain Across Several Regions

Riyadh, March 10, 2026 (Saudi Arabia Breaking News) — Saudi Civil Defense urged residents to exercise caution as thunderstorms and heavy rainfall are expected across several regions of Saudi Arabia from Wednesday through Sunday.
Authorities advised the public to remain in safe locations, avoid flood-prone valleys and areas where water accumulates, and refrain from swimming in floodwaters. Residents were also urged to follow official guidance issued through media and social media platforms.
Civil Defense said the Makkah Region is expected to experience moderate to heavy rainfall, which may lead to flash floods, hail and strong downdraft winds carrying dust and sand.
Affected areas include Taif, Maysan, Adham, Turubah, Al-Muwaih, Al-Khurmah, Ranyah, while lighter to moderate rain is expected in Makkah, Al-Kamil, Al-Jumum and Bahrah.
The Riyadh Region is also forecast to see moderate to heavy rain with potential flash flooding, hail and dust-raising winds. Areas affected include Riyadh, Al-Dilam, Al-Muzahimiyah, Dhurma, Marat, Shaqra, Al-Ghat, Al-Zulfi, Al-Majmaah, Thadiq, Huraymila, Diriyah, Rumah, Afif, Al-Dawadmi, Al-Quwayiyah, Al-Rayn, Hotat Bani Tamim, Al-Hareeq, Al-Kharj, Wadi Al-Dawasir, Al-Sulayyil and Al-Aflaj.
Civil Defense said additional regions expected to experience moderate to heavy rainfall include Madinah, Al-Baha, Asir, Hail, Eastern Province, Qassim, Northern Borders, Al-Jawf and Tabuk, with light to moderate rainfall expected in Najran and Jazan.
Authorities said the warnings aim to ensure public safety during the period of unstable weather conditions.
