Saudi Arabia welcomes Syria ceasefire agreement with SDF - foreign ministry

Riyadh, January 31, 2026 (Saudi Arabia Breaking News) – Ministry of Foreign Affairs said Saudi Arabia welcomed a statement issued by the Syrian government on a ceasefire agreement with the Syrian Democratic Forces, describing it as part of a broader arrangement that includes integrating self-administration institutions into state institutions.
In a statement issued on Friday, the ministry said it hoped the agreement would support Syria’s path toward peace, security and stability, fulfil the aspirations of the Syrian people and strengthen national unity.
The ministry reiterated the Kingdom’s support for efforts by the Syrian government to preserve the country’s sovereignty, unity and territorial integrity.
It also commended the responsiveness of the Syrian government and the SDF to the Kingdom’s efforts, and cited the role of the United States in supporting de-escalation and reaching the agreement.
