Saudi, Bahraini Interior Ministers Co-Chair Fifth Security Coordination Committee Meeting
RIYADH, Oct 8 (Saudi Arabia Breaking News) — Saudi Minister of Interior Prince Abdulaziz bin Saud bin Naif bin Abdulaziz and Bahrain’s Minister of Interior General Shaikh Rashid bin Abdullah Al Khalifa co-chaired the fifth meeting of the Security Coordination Committee of the Saudi-Bahraini Coordination Council on Thursday via videoconference.
Prince Abdulaziz said the meeting aimed to reinforce existing security cooperation between Saudi Arabia and Bahrain, based on directives from Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud and HRH Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, Crown Prince and Prime Minister.
He highlighted the relationship between the two kingdoms, saying their “deep-rooted historical and fraternal ties represent a model of cooperation and coordination across various fields.”
The Saudi interior minister said the fifth meeting was intended to strengthen cooperation and coordination in areas of mutual security interest, address regional challenges and follow up on agreements reached at the fourth meeting of the Saudi-Bahraini Coordination Council.
That meeting was held in Manama and chaired by Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman and Bahrain’s Crown Prince and Prime Minister.
Prince Abdulaziz also commended working teams from both countries for implementing agreed initiatives, including stronger cooperation in cybersecurity and efforts to curb the spread of extremist ideology among young people.
The meeting included the launch of the second phase of an initiative to implement a “one-stop” system between Saudi Arabia and Bahrain, aimed at facilitating passenger crossing procedures through the King Fahd Causeway.
Officials also reviewed several agenda items and discussed ways to strengthen security cooperation and coordination in support of the Saudi-Bahraini Coordination Council’s objectives.
At the conclusion of the meeting, Prince Abdulaziz and Shaikh Rashid signed the minutes of the committee’s fifth meeting.
