RIYADH, May 4 — Saudi Arabia’s environmental sector signed around 44 agreements and memorandums of cooperation with universities and government, private and nonprofit entities during Environment Week 2026, in a move aimed at strengthening partnerships and advancing environmental sustainability targets.

The signing ceremony was witnessed by Deputy Minister of Environment, Water and Agriculture Mansour bin Hilal Al-Mushaiti, according to the official statement.

The agreements included cooperation by the Ministry of Environment, Water and Agriculture with several Saudi universities, as well as partnerships involving the National Center for Vegetation Cover Development and Combating Desertification, the Environment Fund, the National Academy for the Environment, the Saudi Reef Academy, and Net Zero Company.

Officials said the agreements are intended to strengthen environmental work and improve the efficiency of national initiatives in areas including afforestation and natural resource protection.

The event also included the signing of a tree-planting agreement between the Saudi Water Authority and the National Water Company to plant 25 million seedlings.

At the close of the event, several institutions were honored for supporting sustainability and environmental awareness, including the Technical and Vocational Training Corporation, the Ministry of Education, and Claimer as an educational partner in the Green Schools Initiative.
