Saudi Arabia records 15,231 residency, labor and border violations in one week

RIYADH, June 27 (Saudi Arabia Breaking News) - Saudi Arabia recorded 15,231 violations of residency, labor and border security regulations during inspection campaigns carried out across the Kingdom between June 18 and June 24.
The nationwide campaign covered 7,589 residency violations, 4,443 border security violations and 3,199 labor law violations.
Border authorities apprehended 1,763 people attempting to cross into the Kingdom illegally. Yemenis accounted for 44% of those detained, Ethiopians for 55%, and other nationalities for 1%. Authorities also arrested 53 people attempting to leave the Kingdom illegally.
Security forces detained 22 people involved in transporting, sheltering or employing violators.
A total of 16,369 expatriates are undergoing procedures linked to enforcement of the regulations. Another 15,109 people detained for violations were instructed to contact their countries’ embassies or consulates to obtain travel documents. Authorities also directed 3,618 people to complete travel arrangements, while 11,297 were repatriated.
Saudi Arabia warned that anyone who facilitates illegal entry into the Kingdom, transports violators, provides shelter or offers any form of assistance may face penalties of up to 15 years in prison and a fine of up to SAR1 million. Vehicles used for transport and properties used for shelter may also be confiscated.
Such acts are classified as major crimes requiring arrest. The public can report violations by calling 911 in Makkah, Riyadh and the Eastern Region, or 999 and 996 in other parts of the Kingdom.
